Decolonising a Business School: Learning Platform & Resource Hub

This platform has been created to share the ongoing work, insights, and resources emerging from a Decolonising the Business School project at a UK Business School. It aims to act as an accessible, sustainable repository for the project’s research, creative outputs, events, and educational activities, ensuring that the learning generated continues to be available long after the project’s completion.

Decolonisation, within a business school context, involves critically examining how colonial legacies shape what we teach, how we teach, and the forms of knowledge we value. It requires recognising exclusions, amplifying marginalised perspectives, and reimagining curricula, research practices, and institutional processes in more equitable and inclusive ways.

This platform invites students, educators, researchers, and organisational partners to explore a curated set of resources, short learning modules, and reflective materials designed to support deeper understanding of decolonial thinking and practice. Through research summaries, creative media, case studies, and guidance for action, the site aims to foster an open, collaborative space for ongoing learning, dialogue, and transformation.

Written by Chynna Hinds, BA Politics, Policy and Economics, who worked as a Student Research Intern on the BBS Decolonisation Project during 2023. During my time working on the decolonisation project, I was confronted with the amount of hard work needed to decolonise the business school. The experience has been eye-opening, and I’ve gained valuable…

Citations are a powerful force in academia, shaping both individual careers and institutional reputations. They underpin key processes such as job applications, promotions, grant applications, benchmarking, and world university rankings. But citations are more than a metric—they also influence whose voices are heard and valued within the academy. Evidence shows that women and scholars from…
